It marked the first time since 1997 that multiple Cowboys were drafted in the same year.HUFF TO TITANS: Wyoming defensive back Marqueston Huff was selected in the fourth round by the Tennessee Titans. He could potentially play either cornerback or safety with Tennessee.TAMPA POKES: Wide receiver Robert Herron waited longer than he expected to, but was drafted by Tampa Bay in the sixth round. Quarterback Brett Smith was not drafted, but also signed with the Buccaneers. That didn’t quite go to plan. Two Wyoming football players were selected in the NFL Draft on Saturday, as defensive back Marqueston Huff was taken with the No. 122 overall pick in the fourth round by the Tennessee Titans, and wide receiver Robert Herron fell to the sixth round and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 185. Quarterback Brett Smith, who declared for the draft following his senior season, was not Jordy Nelson Kids Jersey selected but also signed a free agent contract with Tampa Bay.This marks the first time multiple Wyoming players were selected in the same draft since 1997.Huff, who played both cornerback and safety during his four year career in Laramie, was not even watching the draft when he received a call from Tennessee."I really was just kind of chilling," Huff said from his home in Texarkana, Texas. "I told myself I wasn’t going to pay too much attention to it and just let it happen how it happens. I got the phone call, and I was just like, ’Whoa.’"It was an exciting moment for me."In his first season at free safety in 2013, Huff racked up 127 tackles and intercepted two passes. His size and speed allows him to play a multitude of positions, and the Titans told him they would "experiment" to see which position suits him best. That versatility proved attractive to NFL teams."He’s a corner who can play safety. He’s a versatile defensive back," ESPN analyst Todd McShay said after Huff was drafted. "He has really good measurables, when you look at him. He has the size that I mentioned. He ran in the 4.4’s in the 40 yard dash."He’s got solid cover skills. If you’re going to ask him to be a nickel back, I’m not sure if he’s ever going to be a great perimeter, full time starter. But the thing is with him, he’s aggressive. He’s willing to support the run. He’s going to do what you ask of him as far as coming off the edge and playing with discipline."Herron a 5 foot 9, 193 pound receiver got more frustrated as the hours passed. A proven playmaker who compiled 937 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his senior season, many pundits predicted that Herron would jump off the board by the middle of the fourth round. Instead, he was available in the sixth.Eventually, Tampa Bay stopped the bleeding."I didn’t know where I was going to get picked. I feel like I waited way longer than I should have," Herron said. "But I’m just ready to get to work as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer."And as for the teams that passed on him, they may packersnflofficial.com/Nike-Randall-Cobb-Jersey.html have just created a monster in the Sunshine State."I’m motivated 100 percent more," Herron said. "I feel like 31 teams are going to regret it."Herron will encounter several familiar faces in Tampa, Florida, as former Wyoming offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo serves as the quarterbacks coach and, as of Saturday evening, Smith became one of the team’s quarterbacks. And while seven rounds of the draft passed him by, Smith quickly disregarded frustration in favor of optimism."I’m disappointed about not getting drafted, but that passed about 10 minutes afterwards," Smith said. "The fact that I’m going to Tampa, I can finally just go to work. I get to be in a position where I can just grind and try to do the best I can to fill whatever role they place me in."For three years at Wyoming, Smith filled the role of "franchise quarterback." Despite foregoing his senior season in favor of the draft, the 6 2, 208 pound QB finished his career as the school’s all time leader in total offense (10,365 yards), touchdown passes (76), touchdowns responsible for (97) and total offense in a game (640 yards).Despite the gaudy numbers, he was left on the outside looking in. Fourteen quarterbacks were taken in the draft, including Mountain West foes Derek Carr from Fresno State and David Fales from San Jose State.Four underclassmen quarterbacks declared early, and the other three Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater were selected in the first round. Smith wasn’t drafted at all.For Wyoming’s dual threat dynamo, it was the latest disappointment in a long line of them. In a way, it’s almost fitting. He has plenty of practice in how to respond."I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to use this [as motivation]," Smith said. "But with my career path in football, there hasn’t been one easy step.
